Planning Your First Festival: Lessons from 5 Years of Production

April 10, 2026 — — 1 min read

Running festivals has taught us more about event production than any textbook ever could. Here are the real lessons from five years of building stages and keeping the music going.

Start with Infrastructure

Power is everything. Before you think about lineups, figure out your electrical capacity. Get a qualified electrician involved early and budget for more capacity than you think you need.

Weather Will Test You

If your event is outdoors, you need a weather contingency for everything. Tarps over the DJ booth, waterproof covers for speakers, and a plan for lightning delays.

Sound Bleed Matters

Multi-stage events live and die by stage placement and sound design. Use directional systems, strategic placement, and time-delay alignment to keep each stage sounding isolated.

Crew Is Everything

The best equipment in the world is useless without skilled, reliable crew. Invest in your team and build long-term relationships.
